Summary
A novel role for factor D, a component of the alternative pathway, is identified in protecting the liver from ethanol-induced inflammation, accumulation of apoptotic hepatocytes, and profibrotic responses and this data indicate a dual role of complement with regard to inflammatory and protective responses.
