Summary
It is shown that NO is highly efficient in inducing mitochondrial permeability transition, thereby causing the liberation of apoptogenic factors from mitochondria which can induce nuclear apoptosis (DNA condensation and DNA fragmentation) in isolated nuclei in vitro.
