Summary
It is suggested that nimodipine pretreatment attenuates the severity of early focal cerebral ischemia, but that with persistent ischemIA, cortex surrounding the ischemic core undergoes progressive infarction and the early benefit of nimmodipine treatment is only partly preserved.
