Summary
It is concluded that cephalosporin resistance among E. coli O157:H7 is due to plasmid-encoded blaCMY genes and thatPlasmid types appear to have shifted from IncA/C to IncI1, which suggests either a change in plasmids type among animal reservoirs or that the organism has expanded into avian reservoirs.
