Summary
Although both IL-6 and TNFa are expressed by adipose tissue, the results show that there are important differences in their systemic release, and several lines of evidence suggest a possible role for cytokines in regulating the size of the adipose tissue stores and other metabolic characteristics, such as systemic insulin resistance.
