Summary
Crowding is not part of the biochemical zeitgeist, and it is rarely discussed in standard textbooks of biochemistry and molecular biology, but it can be stated with some confidence that many estimates of reaction rates and equilibria made with uncrowded solutions in the test tube differ by orders of magnitude.
