It is contended that characterizing SVs offers the conservation genomics community an exciting opportunity to complement SNP‐based approaches to enhance species recovery and leverage the existing literature–predominantly in human health, agriculture and ecoevolutionary biology–to identify approaches for readily characterization SVs.
