Weighting Individuals by Reproductive Value in Calculating Species Diversity
Explore this paper's citation graph
Summary
If the authors happen to sample their community at a time when species A and G have just produced large numbers of newly-hatched young, they will get an inflated idea of the average representation of these two species unless they introduce suitable weighting factors for individuals of different ages.
