Standard hydrokinetic orifice formulas applied to stenotic mitral, pulmonic, tricuspid, and aortic valves, patent ductus arteriosus, and atrial and ventricular septal defects present an objective evaluation of surgical procedures designed to widen stenotic orifices or to abolish abnormal shunts.
