DZ-inducedbeta-cell rest improved the lipid profile, enhanced the metabolic efficiency of insulin, and prevented beta-cell dysfunction and diabetes in diabetes-prone animals, and may be beneficial in preventing beta- cell failure and progression to diabetes in humans.
