Summary
An ontogenetic switch in behaviour occurs at metamorphosis: in he contec of aggression, sibling recognition is most prominentn in the larval stage, whereas neighbour recognition is expressed only arter meetamorphosis, which suggests that expression of these two recognition systems may be a consequence of divergent selective forces that operate in aquatic larval and terrestrial juvenile environments.
