In women with PCOS metformin treatment reduced hyperinsulinemia and hyperandrogenemia, independently of changes in body weight, and logistic regression analysis of baseline characteristics showed that plasma insulin, serum androstenedione, and menstrual history were independent predictors of the treatment's clinical efficacy.
