Summary

Growth of top predators in the river is strongly linked to food webs in adjacent habitats, and preliminary data suggest that the strong role of shallow pool algae in riffle steelhead growth during summer periods was due to drift of pool invertebrates to riffles, rather than movement of riffle trout.
