This review provides a descrip-tion on oligodendrocytes, the reasons for their vulnerability, the evolving new concepts of protecting neurovascular unit and recently neurogliovascular unit; the various diseases where oligodendedrocyte injury is implicated with a brief idea on different injury mechanisms.
