Summary
It is concluded that a microscopically detectable change in vaginal microflora from the Lactobacillus morphotype, with or without the Gardnerella morphotype (normal), to a mixed flora with few or no L lactobacilli morphotypes (BV) can be used in the diagnosis of BV.
