Fondaparinux, the selective FXa inhibitor, can promote the stability of atherosclerotic lesions in apolipoprotein E-deficient mice, possibly through inhibiting expression of the inflammatory mediators in plaque and reduced synthesis of M MP-9 and MMP-13.
