Summary
In contrast to phosphorylation, which directly modulates pro tein function, glycosylation affects the conformation, localization, and organization of functional and structural proteins; thus, gly cosylation determines the turnover and organizational frame work of proteins within cytoplasm, membranes, and the pericellular matrix.
