A clinical syndrome of massive bleeding from acute multiple gastric ulcers associated with respiratory failure, hypotension, sepsis, and jaundice developed in eight of 150 consecutive patients admitted to the respiratory-surgical intensive care unit of the Beth Israel Hospital.
