Summary
The understanding of EMT in metastasis is fosters and underpins heterogeneous EMT phenotypes as important parameters for tumor prognosis and treatment and it is suggested that EpCAM-dependent CTC isolation systems will underestimate CTC numbers but will quantify clinically relevant metastatic cells.
