Ionic magnetic clusters as versatile magnetic probes were successfully synthesized for enhancing the magnetic resonance (MR) contrast effect as well as ensuring high water solubility and demonstrated ultrasensitivity by MR imaging and sufficient magnetic mobility under an external magnetic field.
