It is concluded that vitamin D signaling in the skin suppresses UVR-induced epidermal tumor formation and the roles of hedgehog, Wnt/β-catenin, and hyaluronan/CD44 pathways in mediating vitamin D regulation of proliferation/differentiation are discussed.
