Summary

With parafoveal presentation, the fast-same effect, but not the preponderance of false-different responses, increased greatly for the older adults, apparently due to an inability to perceive differing features (Eriksen, O’Hara, & Eriksen s, 1982, missing-feature principle), owing to their more constricted visual fields.
